Our Journey So Far
Since June 2025, the Oyo Plastic Drive has been strengthening environmental awareness through key initiatives:
Environmental Education
Partnered with schools across Ibadan to sensitize students on plastic waste reduction and environmental stewardship.
Youth Leadership (YSLT)
Empowered school children with climate literacy and sustainability skills through hands-on leadership training.
Recycling Campaigns
Young volunteers mobilized across communities to promote recycling awareness and plastic waste recovery.
Detty Green December
Supported low-income households through plastic waste collection in exchange for food assistance.
Eco-Women Thrive
Supporting women in the informal sector through climate-smart livelihoods and economic resilience initiatives.
Growing Network
A community of students, women, volunteers, institutions, and members protecting the environment together.

Walk for the Planet
"Plastic vs Planet: Choosing the Planet. Reducing Plastic. Protecting Our Future."
The Concept: A symbolic and practical environmental action designed to mobilize citizens, institutions, and young people for a cleaner, healthier planet.
The Impact: This initiative combines a health walk, plastic waste sanitation, tree planting, and community engagement to demonstrate that protecting the planet begins with everyday choices and collective movement.
Event Timeline
Key Event Activities
Environmental Walk & Community Action
A coordinated environmental walk bringing together stakeholders, youth groups, volunteers, and citizens to advocate for plastic waste reduction and environmental stewardship. Participants will carry advocacy messages while engaging in light plastic clean-up along the route.
Multi-Stakeholder Participation
The event brings together a broad coalition of government agencies, NGOs, youth groups, and civil society organizations committed to environmental sustainability.
Tree Planting for the Future
Tree planting will take place at five strategic locations along the walk route, contributing to urban greening and climate resilience.

Community Engagement at Bodija Market
The walk will culminate at Bodija Market, one of Ibadan's busiest commercial hubs featuring public sensitization on plastic pollution, waste collection with incentives, and youth mobilization as Earth Stewards.
Plastic Responsibility Pledge
Participants will take a collective pledge to reduce plastic pollution and promote responsible environmental practices within their homes, schools, and communities.
